One thing I wanted to avoid when decided to do this blahg, was that I was not gonna write movie reviews. It's a hard thing to avoid when most of your time is spent watching movies, though. With one exception, I've been pretty good about it, only giving brief thoughts on the films I've seen. So here is exception #2. I only do it, because there are so few good movies that come out, so I will only write an extended opinion on one if I feel it was good. If I don't like something, you won't hear about it.
Rachel Getting Married is pretty darn good. I had lowered expectations going into it because the trailer and title were way too reminiscent of Margot At The Wedding, a film I have mixed feelings about. It looked to be a more "Hollywood" take on that film. If it didn't have Jonathan Demme's name attached to it, I probably would never have gone to see it, no matter how hot Anne Hathaway is. I was wrong. In the first 10 minutes, I thought I was right, but once you get past those overwritten first minutes it's pretty much smooth sailing to uncomfortable island. I felt like I was watching a Lars Von Trier movie at times, and while it's not nearly as hardcore as those, the film still manages to create moments where I squirmed in my seat. I also got choked up a lot. It's family drama done well, and only creeps into being overly dramatic a couple times, which is tolerable based on how good the rest of the film is. One thing I loved was how many moments were just allowed to continue. Most films are just meat and potatoes, but this had the green beans and garden salad as well. (that's ridiculous, I'm sorry). But yeah, certain things play out for awhile, and I loved it. So there you go. I didn't even give away any plot details. And Fab Five Freddy is in it, so if that's not reason enough to see it, I don't know what is.

Are you sure it's not the guy from Tv on the Radio? The food reference was pretty funny. "W. wasn't only the hamburger is what the whole meatLOAF!"
Sorry, that was just like the mistake I made in the parking lot at the theater, and I meant "It WAS the whole meatloaf!"
Yeah, tv on the radio is in it and has a much bigger part, but FFF is also in it. I'm a Yo MTV RAPS kid, so that means more to me. I also like meatloaf(the food) and hamburger(the singer).
